Award night Stampin' Up! Convention Manchester 2013

Door omstandigheden loop ik wat achter met mijn blogschema.

Ik had jullie beloofd nog alles te vertellen over Awardnight, dus hier gaat ie...
(Stiekem probeer ik ook wat langer na te genieten)

*** Due to circumstances I am a bit behind in my bloggingschedule.
I promised to tell you all about Awardnight, so here it goes...
(Secretly I am trying to extent the enjoyment of this trip)

Nadat de pizza toch wat lang op zich liet wachten en er super snel omgekleed moest worden, waren we gelukkig toch op tijd gearriveerd voor Award Night.

En wat was het spannend allemaal!

Van te voren was gezegd dat ik het podium op zou moeten, dus ik zat daar wel met de nodige zweethandjes.

*** Our pizza wasn't quite as quickly ready as we thought, so we had to change in a hurry and luckily we were still in time for Award Night.
It was soooo exciting!
I knew on beforehand I was to be called on stage, so I was sitting there miss Sweaty Hands.

Normaal gesproken hou ik er helemaal niet zo van om in de spotlight te staan, dus er moest wel wat overwonnen worden. Ik was doodnerveus!

*** I am not the kind of person that likes to be in the spotlight, so I had to overcome my embarressment.
I was so nerveous!

En toen...hoorde ik opeens mijn naam om te verschijnen op het podium.

Voordat ik het trapje op mocht kreeg ik eerst nog een prachtige corsage om.

Leuke anekdote is dat ik dacht dat dit een neproos was, dus nadat ik het podium af was moest ik er even aan voelen en wat denk je....hij was ECHT! Lekker blond momentje...

Die corsage heeft het bij Caro dus niet echt heel lang overleefd helaas.

Maar gelukkig kan ik er altijd nog met de blossom pons nog een leuke bloem op maken.

*** And then...they were calling my name to appear on stage.
Before I could enter the stage a beautiful corsage was given to me.
And I have a little story about this corsage. I thought it wasn't a real flower, so when I left the stage I had to feel the flower and guess what....it was REAL! Kind of a blonde moment...
Poor corsage didn't survived very long with Caro unfortunately.
But luckily I can always make a nice flower with the blossom punch on top.

Het eerste podiummomentje met Miranda Mols en Carmen Sahadat-Morris.

We vonden het alledrie spannend!! Ik stond helemaal te shaken al lijk ik nu op de foto toch redelijk relaxed, maar niets was minder waar. 

*** The first time to enter the stage with Miranda Mols and Carmen Sahadat-Morris.

We were so excited the three of us! I was literally shaking, eventhough I look quite relaxed at this photo, but nothing is what it seems.

Hier is nog een officiële foto gemaakt de Stampin' Up! fotograaf, die er overigens best mocht zijn.

Ik vind het super leuk dat ik ook een foto heb waar ik samen met Erna op het podium sta.

This is a such great memory to be on stage together with my friend Erna.

Om de spanning wat te breken even een geintje maken met Miranda Mols.

*** To release the tension a bit I was just joking around with Miranda Mols.

En na een poosje zou je bijna denken dat het went en ga je zelfs met pompons zwaaien!

Moet toch niet gekker worden!!

*** After a few times you're  almost loving it so much you're going to wave with pink pompons!

So silly, right?!  

En toen maakten ze het nog een beetje spannender bij Stampin' Up!, want we moesten ook onze naam in een microfoon zeggen. Brrrrr, knikkende knietjes hoor! Maar gelukkig was Michelle Last er om me te steunen.

*** At Stampin' Up! they like to build up the pressure and they made us pronounce our names into the microphone. Brrrrrrr, knotting knees! Luckily Michelle Last was there for my support.

Na alle officiële ceremonies was het tijd voor een feestje! En daar hadden Erna en ik best zin in.

*** After all official ceremonies it was time to party! Erna and I were into a little celebration.

Ook nog even een kiekje met Eveline en Annemarie erbij. Het was zo gezellig!

En natuurlijk nog even dollen met Damir en Axel van het hoofdkantoor in Duitsland.

Damir is het aanspreekpunt voor alle Nederlandse demonstratrices bij Stampin' Up! en Axel is de man die al die leuke acties iedere keer in goede banen leid.

Damir is the contact for the Dutch demonstrators at Stampin' Up! and Axel is in charge of all the nice promotions Stampin' Up! has time and time again.

Damir en ik proberen onze beste James Bond pose. Ik weet alleen niet of het nu zo goed gelukt is. 

*** Damir and I are trying our best James Bond pose, but I am not so sure we did well. 

Daarna hebben we nog een poosje heerlijk gedanst op de noten van een leuke band.

's Avonds een vrouw, 's Ochtends een vrouw dachten ze bij Stampin' Up!, want het was alweer vroeg dag de volgende ochtend.

*** We danced the night away on the notes of a cool band.

A lady at night, a lady in the morning. I guess that's what they were thinking at Stampin' Up!, because we had to be present again pretty early the next morning.

 

Deze ochtend heeft mijn lieve upline Michelle Last een presentatie gegeven met zakelijk tips and tricks.

Ik ben echt zoooo trots op haar! Ze is echt een inspiratie, niet alleen op creatief gebied, maar ook zakelijk gebied en vooral ook op persoonlijk gebied. 

*** My darling upline Michelle last was one of the presenters this morning. She did a presentation Meet New People, Find New Faces.

I am so incredibly proud of her! She's a real inspiration, not only creatively, but also business wise and most of all personally.

's Middags mocht mede Pinkie Chantal een WOW make and take presenteren.

En dat ging haar heel goed af! 

Ze deed dat toch maar mooi even voor een zaal met zo'n 1000 demonstratrices bij elkaar.

Ik heb hier een filmpje van gemaakt. 

Nu heb ik een nieuwe videocamera en ben ik nog niet zo thuis in het maken van filmpjes en vooral ook het uploaden ervan. Het is me helaas nog niet gelukt om de video van mijn camera op mijn computer te krijgen.

Hier ga ik in de kerstvakantie op mijn gemak eens even naar kijken.

En dan heb ik ook nog een filmpje van al mijn swaps, want ook die video staat nog op mijn camera.

Nog even geduld dus...

*** In the afternoon our Pinkie Chantal was asked to present a WOW make and take.

She did so well! I would be so nervous for a group of about 1000 demonstrators, but Chantal was a natural talent.

I made a video of her presentation.

The thing is I have a new camera and I am kind of new in the land of video, so I haven't been able to transfer the video's I shot to my computer yet.

When I have Christmas break I will take the time and figure it out.

You'll have to be patient with me on this one.

Natuurlijk hebben de Dutch Pinkies Michelle en Chantal wel even aangemoedigd!!

We hebben toch zo'n lol gehad.

*** Ofcourse the Dutch Pinkies cheered to Michelle and Chantal when they entered the stage!!

We have had so much fun together.

We hadden zelfs speciaal 't shirts laten maken en daarbij bijpassende sjaals gekocht.

*** We even had special 't shirts made and matching scarfs.

Echt, Chantal, je hebt het SU-per gedaan!!

En dan heb ik voor jullie nog wat kerstinspiratie gespot op de moodboards in de gang.

*** I spotted some Christmasinspiration on the moodboards down the hall for you.

Op de laatste dag moest er nog wel even een foto gemaakt worden met alle Pink Ladies/Lads, nou ja alle...

Het was een beetje chaotisch en last-minute, dus helaas staat niet iedereen erop, maar dat maakt Chris van demonstrator support ruimshoots goed.

*** At the last day we had to take a photo with all Pink Ladies/Lads, well...not all...

It was a bit of a last minute decision, so unfortunately not alle attended Pinkies are on it, but Chris from demonstrator support is a good substitute.

En toen moesten we afscheid nemen van een heerlijk Convention weekend en van 2 lovely ladies in blue, the always smiling Bonnie Thurber en the lovely Pam Morgan.

Nu maar hopen dat zij er in Brussel ook weer bij zijn! 

Ik weet zeker dat Bonnie het geweldig zal vinden in de hoofdstad van chocolade!!

Hopelijk kan ze Pam overtuigen dat ze niet gemist kunnen worden, waar dan ook nog eens geen woord van gelogen is, want wat zijn dit 2 fantastische Stampin' Up! ladies.

*** And then it was time to say goodbye to a wonderful Convention weekend and to 2 lovely ladies in blue, the always smiling Bonnie Thurber and the lovely Pam Morgan.

It was a real pleasure to meet you!

Hopefully Bonnie en Pam are coming next year to Brussels as well!

I am sure Bonnie would love it in the capital of Chocolate!!

Hopefully she can pursuade Pam they cannot be missed, and that's no lie, because these are 2 fantastic Stampin' Up! ladies.

Wij waren zo'n beetje de laatsten die de deur dicht deden bij het Manchester Central Convention Centre.

Wat een ervaring en wat mooi weekend! Wat dit alles voor mij zo speciaal maakt is het ontmoeten van nieuwe mensen door gemeenschappelijke interesse waarbij nieuwe vriendschappen ontstaan. Echt mooi!

*** We were about the last persons to close the door at the Manchester Central Convention Centre.

What an experience and what a great weekend!

Meeting people and becoming friends through mutual interest is such a wonderful gift! 

Als afsluiting van een ongelooflijk gezellig weekend zijn we nog even met z'n allen uit gaan eten.

Het viel nog niet mee om een behoorlijk restaurant te vinden waar we met 14 vrouwen aan tafel konden, maar het is gelukt! En er was nog ruim keuze uit de wereldkeuken ook.

Al vond ik het toetjes buffet eigenlijk stiekem het lekkerst!

*** To celebrate this incredible weekend we went out for dinner with 14 people of our group.

It wasn't easy to find a restauranti in busy Manchester to fit us all 14 at one table, but we did it!

There was a big choice of worldfood.

But to be honest I liked the dessert buffet the best!

En toen was het tijd om weer op huis aan te gaan. 

Hè jammer zeg! Maar niet zonder eerst nog even een bakje koffie/thee.

En nee, we hebben niet weer het vliegtuig gemist, al had het voor sommigen van ons geen haartje gescheelt.

Toch Maaike?! 

Gelukkig is alles goed gekomen en zijn we weer veilig thuis.

Meiden, onwijs bedankt voor de gezelligheid en jullie enthousiasme! 

Ik heb echt genoten.

*** Time flies when you're having fun. Time to go home again.

So sad! But we couldn't leave without a last coffee/tea.

And no, we didn't miss the plane again this time, although it was a challenge again for some of us.

Right Maaike?!

Fortunately all ended well and we got home safe and sound.

Girls, thank you so much for your happiness and your enthousiasm!

I really enjoyed it.

Stampin Up! Europe Convention 2013 - Manchester - Be the Difference - DAY 2

Na een enerverende dag met de vlucht naar Manchester en meteen al een receptie en een borrel in het hotel van Michelle, waarbij het toch wat laat was geworden, moesten we de volgende dag alweer vroeg uit de veren om op tijd bij het Manchester Central Conventie centrum te zijn.

*** After a pretty busy day with some flying, a reception and afterwards drinks at Michelle's hotel it had become pretty late. The next morning we had to rise and shine relatively early to be in time at the Manchester Central Convention Centre.

Eenmaal daar aangekomen hebben we om de beurt even geposeerd bij het aankondigingsbord.

*** Once arrived we posed in turns at the entrance.

Onderweg zag ik dat ze me hadden ingehuurd voor uitzending, dus toen ben ik maar van alles gaan filmen, maar of dat goed komt weet ik nog niet, want voorlopig krijg ik de filmpjes nog niet zo druk van mijn camera op mijn computer geupload. Dus mocht iemand daar veel verstand van hebben en me daarbij kunnen helpen, dan hou ik me zeer aanbevolen! Het zijn nl. mijn debuutfilmpjes, dus of het een verstandige keuze was om juist mij uit te kiezen voor uitzending...

*** Just before we arrived I saw they hired me for broadcasting, so I decided to make some video's, but I'm not sure if that worked out, because I haven't been able to upload them to my computer yet. If someone knows how to fix this, I sure could use some help with it. It's the first time ever I held a camera in my hands, so I am not so sure if they were wise to choose just me for broadcasting...

Om 9.00 precies begon de openingsceremonie, waarbij Sara ons van harte welkom heette en een mooie speech gaf. Ook was er weer een  mooie videoboodschap van Shelli, waarin ze sprak dat ze het zo jammer vond dat ze er niet bij kon zijn en waarin ze ons allemaal bedankte dat we deel uitmaken van Stampin' Up! Shelli heeft laatst een ongeluk gehad met haar paard en Sara vertelde dat zij aan de beterende hand is, maar dat de oversteek naar Europa nog wat veel gevraagd was. Ik hoop dat Shelli ook snel door de laatste loodjes komt, zodat ze er volgend jaar zeker bij is in Brussel! Jaaa, volgend jaar wordt de Conventie in Brussel gehouden! Is dat niet gaaf! En lekker dichtbij.

Gezegd moet worden dat Sara het fantastisch heeft gedaan als Shelli's vervangster. Wat een bijzondere vrouw. Ik wist helemaal niet dat zij zelf ook demonstratrice is. Dat is toch best een leuk weetje!

Tijdens de openingssessie was er natuurlijk ook nog een Prize Patrol (loterij met prijsjes).

Mijn lootjeskleur (de loterij ging op kleur) was Melon Mambo, wat best een leuk kleurtje is, maar helaas pindakaas niets gewonnen. Ach, het was toch al hartstikke leuk om mee te maken, want er werden ook ALL ATTENDEE GIVE-AWAY's gedaan. Dat betekent dat, net als bij de Oprah show, iedereen in de zaal iets krijgt! Wow, muziek aan en de hele zaal uit z'n plaat, dat was toch zo'n leuk gezicht!

*** At 9.00 hrs sharp the Openingceremonie started and Sara welcomed us all with a beautiful speech.

They showed another wonderful video of Shelli, who told us she was so sad she wasn't able to be there and she also thanked us all for being part of Stampin' Up!

Shelli has been in a horse accident and Sara told us she's doing better now, but the trip to Europe was still too much to ask. Hopefully Shelli will recover soon, so she can be with us next year in Brussels!

Yes, next year the European Convention will be held in Brussels. Nice, nice, nice!! And so close.

Sara did a fantastic job being her mom's replacement. What a remarkable woman!

I didn't even know she's a demo too. Nice fact!

At the openingssession there was a Prize Patrol, ofcourse.

My ticket was Melon Mambo, which is kind of a cool color, but unfortunately it didn't bring me luck.

It was fun anyway, because there were ALL ATTENDEE GIVE-AWAY's also. 

It was like in the Oprah show. The music got on and all people went cheering.

That was so much fun!

Ik, Sara Douglas en Baz

Na de openingsceremonie ben ik snel nog even met mijn Engelse vriendin Baz met Sara op de foto gegaan.

We hebben nog even met Sara gesproken. Ik was een beetje verlegen en wist ik niet zo goed wat ik moet zeggen. Ik was dus blij dat Baz erbij was.

Daarna was het al vrij snel weer tijd voor de eerste class.

Je kon verschillende classes volgen gedurende deze dag en ook op de gang werden er demonstraties gedaan.

*** After the openingceremonie me and my English friend Baz went for a quick photo with Sara.

We talked to Sara for a minute. I was a bit shy of nature and didn't quite know what to say, but lucky for me Baz was there too.

Before we knew it, it was time for the first class.

During the day you could attent to several classes and there were presentations and demo's at the hall too.

Bord met swaps

Op de gang waren ook nog diverse moodboards met allemaal inspiratiekaarten te zien.

Hierboven zie je een bord met swaps als ik me niet vergis, maar er waren ook borden met ingezonden kaarten en met projecten die we gedurende de conventie hebben mogen zien.

Sommige classes waren op verschillende tijden, zodat je je eigen programma een beetje samen kon stellen.

Het leuk was dat je dus zelf kon kiezen wat je wilde doen.

*** In the hallway there were moodboards with inspirational cards.

Above a swapboard is shown, but there were also boards with cards that were especially sent in and nice projects which were shown during convention.

Some classes were held at different times, so you could make your own schedule.

The fun part was you could choose what you wanted to do.

 

Hierboven zie je Damir (het aanspreekpunt voor demonstratrices in Nederland) en Paula (de Damir van Engeland) een presentatie verzorgen over het eerste jaar van het demonstratrice zijn.

Ook de presentatie van Brandi was zeer de moeite waard! 

*** On the first photo above you'll see Damir, who's the contact for the Dutch demonstrators at Stampin' Up! together with Paula (contact for English demonstrators) doing a demonstration about the first year of being a demonstrator.

Brandi's presentation was also very worthwhile!

So glad to see the wonderful Nicky Dexter again

Het weerzien met de andere Pinkies, die ik afgelopen April in Birmingham heb ontmoet, was echt super gaaf!

Er werd dan ook heel wat af gehugd.

*** To see the other Pinkies, which I met in Birmingham last April, was so much fun!

En er werden ook al snel nieuwe vriendschappen gesloten met de andere Pinkies!

Paula, ik en Chris

In de grote zaal waar ook werd gelunched was een bord waar je je statement voor volgend jaar op kon hangen.

Het mijne was: work smarter not harder and have even more fun!

Bij dit bord trof ik Paula en Chris. Chris is één van mijn favoriete demonstrator supporters.

Als ik naar demonstrator support bel dan krijg ik hem of André (heb ik helaas geen foto van) heel vaak aan de telefoon. Het was dan ook zo leuk om hem in het echt te zien.

En het leukste vond ik nog wel dat ik in de gang liep en opeens iemand hoorde roepen: "Hey Caro, it's me...I'm Chris!"

*** At the big hall where we also had lunch you could write down a statement for next year.

Mine was: work smarter not harder and have even more fun!

At this sign I ran into Paula and Chris for a chat.

Chris is one of my favorite demonstrator supporters.

When I call demonstrator support ofter I get him or André (don't have a photo unfortunately) on the phone.

It was so nice to finally meet them both.

The most fun was when I walked down the hallway and heard someone call: "Hey Caro, it's me...I'm Chris!"

Bonnie kennen jullie nog van mijn vorige blogpost.

Wat een leuke vrouw is dat!

Haar presentatie van de class was echt hilarisch.

Tijdens de classes, presentaties en de openings- en sluitingsceremonies lieten ze ons ook al sneakpeaks van de nieuwe producten zien die eraan gaan komen.

Oooeeehhh, ik kan je vertellen....JE GAAT HET LEUK VINDEN! 

Ze zijn YUMMIE!!!

*** In the afternoon we did a technique class presented by Bonnie Thurber.

You know Bonnie from my last blogpost.

What a wonderful lady she is!

How she presented this class was so hilarious!

During classes, presentations, opening- and closingceremonies they showed us sneakpeaks of new products, which are coming pretty soon.

Whoooo, I can tell you......YOU'RE GOING TO LOVE IT!

They are YUMMIE!!!

Het leuke is dat Bonnie me nog herkende van de vorige avond.

Natuurlijk heb ik ook nog even een fotomomentje gepikt met Bonnie.

Ik kan je vertellen, ik ben in mijn leven niet zoveel op de foto gezet als afgelopen weekend.

En ik hou er toch al zo van....;-)

*** It was so special Bonnie recognised me from the night before.

Ofcourse I stole a little photomoment with Bonnie again.

I can tell you, I have never had my photo taken this much as last weekend.

I am so fond of it....;-) 

Tijdens de technique class heeft Bonnie ons een paar verschillende dingen laten zien, o.a. hoe je zelf veertjes kunt maken van de Stampin' Clay. 

Hiermee heeft ze een muslin bag aangekleed. 

Een super gaaf idee!

Maar ook het overlopen van de kleuren op het aquarelpapier en het decoreren van een envelop op deze manier vond ik erg leuk.

*** Bonnie showed us a few different things during technique class. One was how you can make lovely feathers out of Stampin' Clay. She used this one to dress up a muslin bag. Super cute idea!

And I really liked the idea of overlapping colors and decorating an envelope this way.

Natuurlijk was er ook even tijd voor een groepsfotomomentje met Sara en Michelle!

Helaas staat niet iedereen erop, maar het grootste deel van onze groep was aanwezig.

We hebben zo'n lol gehad!

*** Ofcourse we also had a moment to take a group photo together with Sara and Michelle!

Unfortunately not everyone is involved, but we were there for the most part.

We had so much fun!

Wachten duurt lang hè dames?!

De dag vloog voorbij!

Na de sluitingsceremonie hadden we niet zoveel tijd meer, want om 19.30 uur zou de Award Night beginnen en we wilden ons ook nog even fatsoenlijk omkleden.

Dat werd dus even een pizzaatje halen.....nou ja even....

In het volgende verslag zal ik jullie alles over de Award Night vertellen, want deze post is alweer lang genoeg geworden.

*** The day went by so fast!

After the closingceremony we didn't have much time, because we had to be back by 19.30 when Award Night started.

We wanted to change in our lovely dresses before ofcouse.

So we went for a quick take away pizza....well..quick....

In my next post I will tell you all about Award Night, because this one is already longer then planned.
